Pitcher, 1938-1948. Inducted 1958 (inaugural class).
Right-handed starting pitcher who was traded to the Reds in 1938. Won the pitching Triple Crown (wins, ERA, strikeouts) and the National League MVP in 1939. Pitched for the 1940 World Champion team. Served as player-manager for the Reds in 1948 and manager in 1949.
