Billingham

Right-handed pitcher, 1972-1977. Inducted 1984.

Traded to Cincinnati from the Astros in the same trade that brought over Joe Morgan and Cesar Geronimo, he proceeded to anchor the starting rotation of the Big Red Machine for several years. Led the league in shutouts in 1973, and regularly ranked among league leaders in the category. His track record in seven World Series games is impressive: 2-0, 0.36 ERA (which translates to 1 earned run in 25 and 1/3 innings.) Gave up Hank Aaron’s record-tying 714th career home run on Opening Day 1974 in Cincinnati.
