Dave Concepción

Shortstop, 1970-1988. Inducted 2000.

A heralded defensive shortstop known particularly for his range, Concepción won 5 Gold Gloves and perfected the one-hop on Astroturf throw to first. Initially a weak hitter, he ultimately became a valuable member of the bottom of the “great eight” Big Red Machine lineup, hitting over .280 in 8 seasons. Concepción played his entire 19-year career with the Reds.
