Howsam

General manager, 1967-1977, 1983-1984. Team president, 1973-1978. Inducted 2004.

One of the chief architects of the Big Red Machine teams of the 1970s. Responsible in particular for drafting Don Gullett and Ken Griffey, signing Dave Concepción, trading for Joe Morgan and George Foster, and hiring the unknown and unproven Sparky Anderson as manager. Named MLB Executive of the Year by the Sporting News in 1973.
