Center fielder, 1984-1991, 1996. Inducted 2005.
From his early playing days, he was known for his power-speed-defense combination, regularly ranking among the league leaders in categories like home runs, RBIs, stolen bases, OPS, and fielding percentage. He received MVP votes in 5 straight seasons from 1986-1990, won three consecutive Gold Gloves, and was selected for two All-Star Games. He played well (hitting a Game 1 home run) in the 1990 World Series before a Game 4 injury sent him to surgery and a career-long struggle to stay on the playing field. After stints with the Dodgers and Tigers, he returned to the Reds for a season in 1996. Davis currently works in the Reds front office and as a special instructor in spring training.
