Pitcher, 1977-1982. Inducted 2006.
An accomplished pitcher known for his control and his fastball who’d won 3 Cy Young Awards already, Seaver was traded to the Reds in the middle of the 1977 season. During his tenure in Cincinnati, he made 3 All-Star Games, pitched to a 3.18 ERA, and threw the only no-hitter of his career (in 1978). His best season as a Red came in the strike-shortened 1981, when he led the league in wins and winning percentage and was top ten in strikeouts, WHIP, innings pitched, and complete games. He came in 2nd in the Cy Young race that season and also received votes for MVP.
