First baseman, 1998-2005. Inducted 2012.
Acquired on the eve of Opening Day in 1998, Casey went on to be a three-time All-Star. Hit .305 over his 7 years in Cincinnati and three times found himself in the top 10 in the league in batting average. Arguably his best season came in 1999, when he hit .332 with 25 home runs and 42 doubles, a season in which the Reds lost a one-game playoff for the Wild Card spot. Casey’s gregarious nature and penchant for chatting up any opposing player who reached first base earned him the nickname “the Mayor” and a reputation as a fan favorite.
